Tasting Notes and Characteristics:

Freixenet Prosecco offers a lively, refreshing sparkle that makes it perfect for celebrations or casual gatherings alike. With an ABV of 11%, this Italian sparkling wine is crafted using the Glera grape, following traditional Charmat method fermentation to preserve its vibrant character. Produced in the Veneto region, Freixenet Prosecco stands out for its elegant bottle and approachable style.

On the palate, you’ll find crisp notes of green apple, ripe citrus, and hints of white flowers balanced by a gentle minerality. Its bright acidity and fine bubbles make it an excellent match for seafood dishes like oysters or shrimp, enhancing their freshness. It also pairs beautifully with prosciutto; the wine’s subtle sweetness and effervescence cut through the saltiness of cured meats for a harmonious bite.

Producer Information: Freixenet

Freixenet is based in Sant Sadurní d’Anoia, a town in the heart of Spain’s Penedès region, which is internationally recognized for its sparkling wine production. The company traces its origins to 1861, when two local winemaking families, the Ferrers and the Salas, joined forces through marriage. Freixenet began specializing in Cava production in 1914 and has since become one of the world’s largest producers of this traditional Spanish sparkling wine. Their approach centers on using native grape varieties such as Macabeo, Xarel·lo, and Parellada, combined with meticulous adherence to the méthode traditionnelle for secondary fermentation in bottle.

Beyond their flagship Cava wines, Freixenet offers a diverse portfolio that includes still wines made from international varietals like Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon as well as indigenous grapes such as Tempranillo and Garnacha. The company has expanded into Prosecco production from Italy’s Veneto region and also crafts alcohol-free sparkling options to cater to evolving consumer preferences. In addition to wine, Freixenet produces vermouths and other aperitifs under various labels within their global group structure. Their international reach extends through partnerships and acquisitions across Europe and the Americas, allowing them to offer a wide range of products suited for different palates and occasions.
